To LIFT Members and Supporters:
As salaam alaikum (Peace Be Upon You)
Al HamduAllah LIFT hosted Dr. Kenya Numan from Stepping Together, Inc for the fact-finding visit in preparation for the upcoming health mission. Today Dr. Kenya returns home from her week long visit in Tanzania. We pray that the remaining of her journey is safe and enjoyable.
The first health mission will focus on women’s health, specifically cervical cancer screening. I would like to thank members of the LIFT Health Committee, especially Dr. Hamis Ajali and Dr. Zulfa Msami for a well planned schedule. I do not think I would be overstepping by saying that all the objectives of the visit were met.
It is our plan that Dr. Kenya’s team will return in January with the hope of screening 300 to 500 rural women. LIFT and our partners at Stepping Together will have much work to do to prepare for the mission. Within Tanzania, there will be volunteer opportunities available to assure a successful first health mission (housing, Tanzanian health advocates, transport, administration, logistics, food, patient registration, translation, outreach, and many more).
Additionally, Stepping Together will be posting job descriptions on the Stepping Together website for the USA based team of volunteers. In addition, both organizations welcome financial contributions for this mission.
