Lindi Islamic Foundation of Tanzania (LIFT) built 24 toilets for students and 2 toilets for teachers at Stadium Primary School in Lindi, Tanzania. In addition, the staff was provided with a desktop computer, a printer, and a photocopier. The project was funded by Khaki Foundation (USA). LIFT provided approximately 270 volunteer hours. LIFT purchased all materials and hired all workers.
The municipal engineer provided the drawing and approved the construction during critical milestone. The Lindi City Director and Mayor also provided support to ensure project continued without any logistical obstacles.
The project started December 14, 2018. It completed December 15, 2018 all deliverables were turned over to Lindi City Director.
The project was delivered at 73% of budget and on schedule. Total cost of project US$21,500 which includes,
- Purchase of desktop computer, a printer, and a photocopier
- Demolition of old toilet block
- Construction of boys’ and girls’ toilet block
- Building 26 new toilet stalls
- 24 porcelain toilets and student stalls
- 1 female seat toilet for student disabled
- 1 male seat toilet for student disabled
- 11 squat toilet stalls (boys’)
- 11 squat toilet stalls (girls’)
- 2 staff porcelain toilets
- Brick structure and plastering
- Painting
- Tiles
- Roofing and ceiling
- Plumbing to each stall and washing stations
- 4 hand washing stations and mirrors
- Tank tower repair, pump, and water tank
- 24 porcelain toilets and student stalls
